Remembering What I Do
Right now, it feels like life right now is lived from zoom call to zoom call. So when one of my designers emailed with a question about how to get light across a 20 foot ceiling, it was a breath of fresh air... Oh yeah! Helping designers! Helping make cool light! That's what I normally do! So I sat at my iPad and make the above sketch and it was rudimentary, and fun and it brought me back to what I really love to do.
There's a lot of baggage associated with the word "rep" look I was a designer for years and I get it. To me, moving to the role of rep has really meant moving into a space where I assist designers in making great light. Sometimes it sketching ideas, sometimes it product recommendations and sometimes it's samples. In this new normal it's more difficult to be Johnny on the spot with samples, but in so many other ways, my assistance is still quite available. If you find yourself working from home feeling like you're busier than ever, working harder to do more over longer hours, remember, I'm here. At the core, reps are here to assist you, the designer. So let me help. I'd love to.
