Great Lighting can change the world.
Light Level: 30 Foot-Candles Average / Average-to-Minimum ratio of less than 2.5FC
Lighting Power Density: 0.53 Watts/Sq. FT
Light Level: 30 Foot-Candles Average / Average-to-Minimum ratio of less than 2.5FC
Lighting Power Density: 0.63 Watts/Sq. FT
General Note: Food serving areas are required to me 40 foot-candles on average with and are allowed 0.92 Watts/Sq. FT for the examples below I have excluded serving areas as the dimensions and placement vary too much from school to school to give a fair typical. I’m confident we can raise the light output on any of the fixtures below to meeting food service requirements.
The calculations below were developed using cafeteria dimensions from a recent school project. The layouts use only one diameter/output, in a more complex design these could be mixed per aesthetic design requirements.
HE Williams of course has many more options available in both recessed and surface mounted styles. The calculations and suggestions above are just the starting point. For project-specific suggestions and calculations, just email me.
