Lighting Control Elements with SDA Controls

  • A metro 200 Lexington Ave S1106 New York NY (map)

Lighting Controls are complicated. Learning the differences between protocols, assessing the pros and cons of different systems, learning how different dimmers will affect the performance of your specified fixtures - it’s a ton of information!

It helps when you know the basics. That’s why I’m teaming up with the SDA controls team to do a controls-focused session as part of the Young Designer Series. No question is too basic, or simple to get an answer in these workshop sessions.

  • How does 0-10v work?

  • What’s an ELV dimmer?

  • How do these different systems get laid out?

Bring your simple (or complex!) questions to this open lab centered on lighting controls.

There are more ways than ever to control lighting. Every control system has its benefits and its’ downsides. In this workshop, you’ll be able to learn the basic components of a traditional panel-based system, a distributed control system, and new wireless control options relying on Bluetooth technology.

Learn:

  • Basic system architecture

  • Play with system components

  • Learn how different protocols (0-10v, Phase, DALI and DMX ) affect lighting performance.
