Here's What to Look for at LEDucation
It’s Hard To Believe
Two years ago, I was in the conference room at SDA with the rest of the team and we were furiously discussing LEDucation. At the time, the rumor was the show was going to forge ahead despite news of the impending Coronavirus. LEDucation was the first of the seemingly infinite list of events personal and professional that had to become virtual overnight. It is a milestone in the recovery from the pandemic that we are able to have LEDucation in person.
New Products
Remember the approximately 2 million zooms you've been invited to over the last 2 years to see new products from various manufacturers? Most of them you ignored, some you signed up for and couldn't get to, the rest you signed into but answered your email throughout? Well, those products will be at LEDucation. The stuff I'm most anxious to see are pieces that I've still only seen virtually from Beta-Calco, ALW, ERCO, and Insight.
The Growing World of Luminii
If you stopped time in March of 2020, Luminii was just organizing the merger of Optic Arts into their product portfolio and beginning the same process with Senso. Well, the coming-out party for all things Luminii has arrived. Luminii is now a complete lighting offering spanning their classic small form factor linear (including ilight), downlights, cylinders, and pendants, a robust UV disinfection offering, and now Remote Control Lighting and the stunning products of Precision Lighting line. All of that will be on display at LEDucation and I think it will show in a way no zoom can exactly how impressive the offering from Luminii has become.
The Classes
I absolutely love how the DLF has kept the virtual component of LEDucation through some of their seminars. Monday features a focus on sustainability with discussions on urban resilience, embodied carbon, lighting control and sustainability, solar energy, and circular economy concepts.
Picking up Tuesday there are panels on everything from IoT, circadian heat mapping (?) digital lighting post covid, protecting your light art projects, emergency power, and practical circadian metrics.

The Fun
Remember hanging out? I've been doing it again lately and let me tell you, it's fun! I'm looking forward to happy hour with Leviton with internet-famous Bill Kressler and of course the return of the Coronet LEDucation party at Faces and Names. I'm also looking forward to several dinner and coffee appointments on the calendar. Want to meet up? Drop me a note, I'd love to see you.
If you haven't registered yet, it's not too late. Message me for a link and code if you don't have it.
Can't wait to see you on the show floor!
