SDA Lighting is Now the NY Metro Representative For Barrisol
Remember photocopies? When I was a kid and well into my working career when hardcopies were still critical, we made copies all the time. And many people for decades said, "make me a Xerox." Few architectural products have ascended to that level where the effect they create becomes synonymous with their name.
Then there's Barrisol
Barrisol invented the category of stretched fabric surfaces that could do and become almost anything designers imagined. Of course, my focus is lighting, and from my days as a designer right up to the present as a rep, I've worked on projects where backlighting Barrisol properly is essential to executing a design.
But Barrisol is so much more than backlighting. From replicating surfaces like stone and brick to creating an actual mirror, Barrisol is a radical and diverse offering that can integrate into so many projects.
There are certainly imitators out there, and sometimes, people look at a sample from a Barrisol imitator and will actually call it Barrisol, the dreaded "Xerox" effect. But make no mistake, there is no substitute for the real thing. I'll be talking about (and showing) lots more about Barrisol over the coming weeks and months, but here are a few things to keep in mind.
